Pursuing Equity in Pregnancy & Infant Health
Join MFHC for a one-hour webinar focused on health equity in outcomes related to pregnancy & infant health. According to the Missouri Pregnancy-Associated Mortality Review Board report from 2021, Black women were three times more likely to die within one year of pregnancy than white women and women on Medicaid were eight times more likely to die within one year of pregnancy compared to those with private insurance. The report also noted that 75% of all pregnancy-associated deaths and 100% of pregnancy-associated deaths related to mental health were deemed preventable. In addition, according to Missouri’s Department of Health and Senior Services, black infants are more than two times as likely to die in their first year of life compared to white infants. This session will deep-dive into Missouri-specific data around pregnancy & infant health outcomes and what strategies can be used in sexual and reproductive health settings to move toward greater equity in our state.
