This is a public training event hosted by Missouri Family Health Council, Inc., and presented by Sarah Masoud with the Diversity Awareness Partnership (DAP). At the completion of this training, participants will be able to explain how unconscious bias works and its various types; understand how racial equity, racism, and sexism manifests in the healthcare field; recognize where and how unconscious bias manifests through our behavior, and; propose strategies to reduce the harmful impact of unconscious biases on reaching organizational goals.

Sarah Masoud is the Manager of Training and Education at DAP. She started her career working in the refugee and immigration field and received her Masters in International Affairs from Washington University in St. Louis. Through her experience in working with immigrants and refugees, she has been surrounded by a multitude of different cultural, ethnic, and religious backgrounds which led her to delve into the field of diversity and inclusion. Additionally, her identity as an Arab-American woman with a rich and diverse family history has shaped the way she is able to facilitate difficult conversations about social issues such as race and gender identity.
